Co-operative Education is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience a chosen career while in still in high school. Students earn 2 credits by participating in co-op. For most, this will reassure them of their post-secondary destination. The co-op program includes pre-placement (Health & Safety, Job Readiness and Rights & Responsibilities), integration (Workplace Opportunities & Challenges and Reflective Learning) and the actual placement. Students link a course they have taken in high school to their placement. Expectations from this linked course are used to create a learning experience at the placement.  In the past, students of all academic streams have completed various placements including (but not limited to):

  • Law Firms
  • Accounting firm
  • Auto Garages
  • Construction companies
  • Elementary Schools
  • Daycares
  • Hospitals
  • Dentists offices
  • Hair salons
  • Vet Clinics
  • Retail stores
  • Architecture firms
  • Marketing firms
  • Restaurants

Some students are enrolled in Holy Trinity’s Specialist High Skills Major in Business. One of the requirements for SHSM is 2-credit co-op. Students have done placements in marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship and finance.
