Please ensure that you do your research for the various University and local scholarships regarding criteria, nomination procedures(if required), and application deadlines as these do vary. For University deadlines see electronicinfo.ca. Then click on the FINANCE tab to search for individual major university scholarships. For local scholarships, check here regularly for updates and listen to morning announcements. Some scholarships will require a school nomination.�Scholarships that do require a school nomination for example are: The Loran Scholarship, The University of Toronto National Scholarship, and the Queen’s Chancellor/Quarms scholarship and the like. Holy Trinity reserves the right to select a candidate that best meets the scholarship criteria. Potential nominees are asked to speak with their counsellor to start the process one month prior to a major scholarship deadline for consideration.

The Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarship

University of Toronto National Book Award

TD Scholarships

TD is awarding 20 scholarships to students applying to college or university. Each scholarship is worth up to $70,000 over four years. That�s up to $10,000 for tuition and $7,500 in living expenses each year. Additionally, students receive offers of paid summer employment. Applications are due November 18th

Schulich leader Scholarships

Information regarding the 2016/2017 Schulich Leader Scholarships are now in Student Services. You can also access information on the Schulich Website� http://www.schulichleaders.com/who-eligible . Please read the eligibility criteria carefully for this award. This scholarship does require a nomination from the school. Please submit a nomination letter to the student services dept. by Friday December 2nd. In your nomination letter explain the following:

  1. Why should you be the schools nominee for the Schulich scholarship?
  2. Explain how your community involvement has contributed to STEM.
  3. Schulich leaders are characterized as innovators, how would achieving this award help you to become an innovator in STEM?

Queens University National Scholarship

Students interested in applying for the Queens National Scholarship and plan on attending Queens are asked to please submit the completed application to Student Services by Tuesday Nov 15th. Terry Fox Humanitarian Award

The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award is valued at $28,000. Eligibility and application info can be found at www.terryfoxawards.ca

Western University National Scholarship Program

These scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate ability for creative and innovative thought and a passion for the pursuit of learning. National Scholarships also recognize exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as the arts and athletics. A special emphasis is placed on a candidate’s commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.

The due date for these scholarships are Feb 14th 2017. A school nomination is required, nomination letters are due by Friday January 13th

University Women’s Club of Oakville Scholarship Fund

The University Women’s Club of Oakville is offering several entrance and community service scholarships. They are also offering a performing arts award as well as an access award. For more information regarding eligibility, deadlines and online application please visit:

Wellington/Halton Women’s Institute Scholarship and Award program

This institution is offering two scholarships. The Dr. Ethel Chapman Scholarship which has a value of $750.00 and the Wellington-Halton District Community College/Trade School Award. Both awards are open to male and female students. For more information on the awards please see Mr.McConville in guidance. The deadline to apply is March 31st

Oakville/Milton District Real Estate Scholarship

OMDREB are offering four scholarships valued at $2500 each. Interested students will be required to complete a written or video essay. Applications are available in the guidance office. Applications are due before May 8th 2017

Toronto Real Estate Board

The Toronto Real Estate Board is offering four scholarships ranging from $5000 to $2500. Applications can be picked up in guidance. Applications are due March 24th 2017

2017 Don MacDonald optimist Bursary Award

This award is valued at $2,000. Holy Trinity is allowed to nominate one student for this award, which is valued at 2000 dollars. Interested students are asked to please open the link below to read about eligibility. Students who are interested in applying are asked to submit a 500 words essay in which students should describe their goals and ambitions, their proposed major or area of specialty in post-secondary studies, and describe the volunteer work they have done in school and/or the community. The essay should explain how this bursary will assist in overcoming the financial challenges of attending university or college.  Essays are due to guidance no later than Fri March 24th

The Angela Bruce Chapter IODE Bursary

Is offering a $1000 Bursary to one student at each High School in Oakville. One of the criteria for this award is financial need. Students wanting an application are asked to please speak to Mr. McConville in Student Services.

They are also offering the Merrian Keegan Award of $8000 to one graduating student from Oakville. One of the criteria for this award is financial need. Students wanting an application are asked to please speak to Mr. McConville in Student Services.

Applications are due Thursday April 20th into Student Services

2017 May Court Scholarship Awards

The May Court Scholarship Awards are given out to Oakville Students proceeding on to post secondary education. Candidates should have demonstrated a strong commitment to his/her school and/or community at large and have a “more than average” financial need. Applications are available in guidance, completed applications are due back to guidance by Friday April 28th.

The Lions Club of Oakville 2017 Scholarships

The Lions Club of Oakville has set up a scholarship fund in the name of the late GeorgeWinnett, a longtime resident of Oakville. This year we will be awarding two scholarships of $1000.00.

To be eligible a student must:

– be a resident of Oakville

– be in full-time attendance at an Oakville public or separate secondary school

– have achieved outstanding academic excellence

– have made a significant contribution of voluntary service to their community

– consideration will also be given to financial need

Recipients of the Award will also be required to give proof of registration at a recognized              postsecondary institution prior to receiving the Scholarship funds. Applications are due Tuesday April 11th

    NEW – W. Garfield Weston Foundation Fellowship Program – Designed to attract students to Skilled Trades careers, the new W. Garfield Weston Foundation Fellowship Program will offer tuition and bursary incentives to help students train for and succeed in this growing labour market. A total of $240,000 will be available during the three-year program. The pilot project will provide 30 post-secondary students and 30 apprentices with tuition credits from the College and bursary funding from The W.     Seneca offers millions of dollars in scholarship/bursary funding each year. The application deadline for student awards is October 31.
